Colorado National Monument Red Sandstone Cliffs Landscape
Rim Rock Drive winds in a serpentine curve through the steep canyons of the Colorado National Monument, flanked by towering vertical cliffs of Wingate Sandstone. Rust-red and terracotta hues dominate the landscape, textured with craggy rock faces and stippled with dark green pinyon-juniper vegetation. High-contrast daylight casts deep shadows within the canyon folds, defining the sharp edges of the geological formations. The smooth, grey ribbon of asphalt provides a clean leading line against the rough, arid terrain of the high desert.
