Cribstone Bridge Stonework
The structural detail of the Cribstone Bridge's distinctive stonework. The interlocking granite stones, each varying in size and shape, form a sturdy yet permeable wall that allows water to pass through. Some stones bear the marks of drilling, a testament to their extraction and preparation process. The nooks and crannies between the stones have become a microhabitat for small plants and lichen, adding a hint of green to the otherwise grey palette, and showing the intersection of human construction and natural colonization.
