American lobsters (Homarus americanus) emerge bright red-orange after steaming, tangled among strands of golden-brown rockweed (Ascophyllum nodosum) in a traditional shore clambake. A hand in a blue rubber glove reaches into the steaming pile, lifting seaweed and shellfish from beneath a heavy canvas tarp folded back at the edges. Wisps of white steam rise against a softly blurred background of gray water, catching diffuse natural daylight that highlights the wet, glistening textures of the catch.
